Joseph Pomianowski, CEO of Orchid, wanted to help his end-users automate two of the most tedious processes in their day to day, transcribing and structuring patient notes and manually migrating patient data from legacy EHR systems into Orchid.

CHALLENGE # 1

Using AI to migrate data from legacy EHR systems

Before Velos, Orchid’s end-users had to manually recreate existing forms and processes within Orchid’s system—a tedious and error-prone process. 


In the healthcare industry, many providers are stuck with clunky, legacy systems or processes that are closely tied to their day-to-day business operations. Because of how deeply embedded their operations are with their respective systems, many providers hesitate to make the jump to newer systems like Orchid because they’re worried about the switching costs.


Most clinicians don’t have large technical teams who can handle custom migration work and, companies like Orchid are limited in the number of resources they can dedicate to this task. 


“Manual data entry remains a massive problem in healthcare. Most EHR systems lack accessible APIs, so our users often find themselves painstakingly entering data by hand from one system to another," said Pomianowski. "It's not just inefficient; it takes valuable time away from patient care."
